| Diane Cooper's subtle use of materials was inspired by Japanese aesthetic. Living in Japan, a much older culture than our own, gave her an appreciation for aged and worn surfaces. Her work is comprised of materials such as canvas, leather, paint, and found pieces of paper. She arranges these materials on squares that are often installed together in a grid which gives the impression of one large piece or several individual pieces. Diane Cooper now lives in Chicago after having spent several years abroad in Japan and London. |
